The laboratory services offered at Bates County Memorial Hospital consist of specimen analysis to support outpatient and inpatient services, emergency services, as well as the Family Care Clinics of Butler and Adrian.
The laboratory is accredited by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The lab is staffed with certified clinical laboratory scientists, laboratory technicians and phlebotomists. Testing is performed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Testing not performed at Bates County Memorial Hospital is sent to Saint Luke’s Reference Laboratory, and pathology services are performed by “MAWD Pathology Group” of Kansas City.
Tests performed at Bates County Memorial Hospital include blood banking, microbiology, serology, urinalysis, chemistry and hematology. The instrumentation in the laboratory has up-to-date technology. The chemistry analyzer utilizes “chemiluminescent technology” for fast and accurate results. The hematology analyzer utilizes advanced “fluorescent flow cytometry” technology to ensure accurate counting and identification of cellular structures.
To ensure faster and more efficient service, patients who need to have blood drawn should first check in at the registration desk located in the hospital front lobby (east end), or if it is after hours, at the registration desk located inside the Emergency Services Department entrance. Patients will be asked to provide a copy of identification and insurance provider.
