   The Cardio-Pulmonary

Rehabilitation Program at Bates County Memorial Hospital is designed to meet the needs of those with recent Cardiac events such as heart attacks, CABG, and stable angina, and those with Pulmonary Disease such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, or any chronic lung disease. The Program combines education and exercise to meet the individual needs of each participant. The facility is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for Cardiac patients, and on Tuesday and Thursday for Pulmonary patients.

   Hours vary according to our client response and facility needs. The Program is divided into different phases. All phases require a physician's order.

Cardiology Services:

  • EKG (electrocardiogram) - 12 lead Evaluation of heart function

  • Holter Monitor - 24-hour tracing recorded on tape for heart function

  • Echocardiogram - (ECHO) Ultrasound of the heart function.  This test sometimes also includes cardiac Doppler and color flow testing for more detailed information.

  • Treadmill (Stress Test) - Exercise test to evaluate heart function (involves walking on treadmill)

  • Stress Echo - combination of Echocardiogram test and treadmill test for evaluation of heart function

  • Cardiac Consultation - A cardiologist consults with patients with heart related or circulatory related illnesses or problems

  • EEG - neurological evaluation of brain function
