Who We Are
In 1998, the
Board of Directors of Bates County Memorial Hospital (BCMH)
created a "Charitable
Foundation" in order to provide charitable and educational
services for the
benefit of BCMH, its employees and the community. Bates
County Community Health
Foundation (BCCHF) qualifies as a tax-exempt organization under
Section 501(c)(3)
of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions made to this
organization are
tax deductible.
MISSION STATEMENTS
Bates
County Community Health Foundation has a mission to:

Create opportunities for caring individuals and
families in our area to participate in providing top-quality health care for all
residents of Bates County and the surrounding area.

assets for the advancement of charitable, scientific and

Scholarships
Louis E. Gehm, Jr., M.D. Scholarship
- Dr. Gehm was the Radiologist at Bates County Memorial Hospital
from 1977 to 1998 when he retired due to ill health. Upon his
death on June 2, 2001, Dr. Gehm’s family established a medical
scholarship in his memory. The scholarship is $1,000 for one

FUNDRAISING PROJECTS
Annual Golf Tournament
Fall tournament held at the Butler Country Club, Butler, MO
Annual Trap Shoot Tournament
Fall tournament held at Settles Ford Trap & Skeet Range, Adrian,
MO
Memorial Tree Ornaments
The Foundation places a Memory Tree at Bates County Memorial
Hospital each Christmas. Ornaments designated in memory of a
friend or a loved one are available for a $10 donation.

First Steps Program
The First Steps Program is a way to recognize the birth of
babies born at BCMH. Baby footprint plaques will be engraved
with the name and date of birth and will be placed on a mural
across from the nursery. Donations of $75 are accepted for
these plaques.
Memorial Garden
Memorial scripture stones may be purchased for placement along
the walkway entrance to BCMH.
