BCMH Cares Mammogram Fund

Early detection saves lives. This is especially true for recommended mammography screenings as breast cancer will affect 1 in 8 women who will be diagnosed with this cancer in their lifetime.  Most health insurance plans cover the entire cost of annual mammography screening, but women with no health insurance often skip these important screenings. Thanks to a special fund at Bates County Memorial Hospital called BCMH Cares, uninsured and underinsured women who need a screening mammogram can get this imaging service at no out-of-pocket cost – including follow up imaging services, when indicated. The BCMH Cares fund has helped many women in our community to receive free mammography services.

How do you know if your health insurance covers mammography screenings?

Women should present for a baseline mammogram at age 35 and yearly after the age of 40.  Those with close family members with a history of breast cancer should talk to their doctor about how often to screen for breast cancer, and their options. Learn more about Breast Health and Imaging Services at BCMH.

To learn if your health insurance covers mammography screenings, call the phone number found on the back of your health insurance card and ask if your plan covers mammography screenings as a preventive service.

Learn more about your out-of-pocket costs by calling a Patient Benefit Advisor at Bates County Memorial Hospital.  Call 660-200-2370.

Choose BCMH Cares for Your Group’s Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser

Local schools and community groups have chosen BCMH Cares as the recipient of their breast cancer awareness fundraising in October.  They value the option to help local women with preventive services that 3D mammography screenings provide. These groups have raised more money for BCMH Cares than any other to date, and we are so grateful to them:

  • Miami R-1
  • Butler R-5
  • Butler Saddle Club
