Mock Crash 2024: Drunk Driving Accident Simulation at Butler High School

This year’s Mock Crash, a collaborative effort of city and county agencies, was one of the best we have witnessed. Students and participants always do an excellent job for this semi-annual staged portrayal of a post-prom drunk driving accident, but there were elements to this one that will stick with us. BCMH Systems Secure, Nationwide Cyberattack May Impact Information Flow

Recent reports about a company called Change Healthcare in the national media involving a cybersecurity event does not directly impact Bates County Memorial Hospital but does involve claim submissions to all Healthcare and Pharmacies nationwide which affect us indirectly by holding up our claim submissions. It interrupts the information flow. All BCMH systems are secure and functional. We were not breached. It does slow down claims and slows sending some prescriptions by electronic means to pharmacies. We apologize for any delays or inconvenience caused by the slowdown. Change Healthcare (owned by Untied Healthcare) is working around the clock on this issue.

Call of the Year Awarded

Bates County Memorial Hospital awarded Paramedic Kyle Larsen and EMT Megan Hall with the Call of the Year Award for their extraordinary efforts during a call in 2023. A ceremony was held in the hospital’s dining room to recognize the emergency medical services team on February 9. Learn more.

Montrose Bluejays Donate to Cancer Care

Montrose R-14 Bluejays donated $1,065 for cancer care at BCMH from their Pink Night fundraising in February. The donation will be used toward the hospital’s Infusion Center renovation. BCMH thanks to the students, coaches, teachers, parents and all who contributed.

Miami Eagles Donate Pink Funds to BCMH Cares

Miami R-I School District donated $712.36 to Bates County Community Health Foundation, designated for the BCMH Cares Mammogram fund. Miami Eagles have dedicated proceeds from their October breast cancer awareness month fundraising projects to this fund for many years. Our thanks to Miami students, teachers and parents for dedicating their efforts to helping women in our community detect breast cancer early.

 

Congressman Mark Alford Visits BCMH

Congressman Mark Alford (Missouri, 4th District) visited Bates County Memorial Hospital on January 25, 2024, and staff members and patients alike enjoyed interacting with him during a quick tour of our hospital.  During a meeting with senior leadership, he asked great questions about the unique challenges that independent, rural hospitals like BCMH face. BCM appreciates his support of our efforts to continuously provide a high level of care to our community.

 

BCMH Awarded Grant from Patterson Family Foundation

Bates County Memorial Hospital has been awarded a $50,000 Rural Hospital Medical Equipment and Supplies Grant from the Patterson Family Foundation. Read more about how this will benefit our rural hospital.
